Roughnecks

A group of rag-tag militia formed from the ranks of Wriston's levies, The Roughnecks quickly became a well-known regiment. Their duty to Wriston is to protect the southern border from The Dreadlands.
Originally comprised of trained soldiers from across the Dominion under the leadership of Jean-Francois Calvet, the regiment was too small to defend the Wriston Plains from the encroaching Dreadlands. This forces Duke Calvet to recruit more and more of his own militia until most of the regiment comprised of mainly militiamen.
While this began their reputation as being "unconventional", the "rag-tag" title didn't get added until later. That was cemented several years after Myst Day for the lack of military supplies sent to the flank by the Dominion, which was focused on defending the Thesari Highlands. While food and clothing were never an issue in Wriston, weapons and armor were quickly worn with the encroaching Dreadlands, so the Roughnecks began using cobbled armor and leather scraps - this gave them their name official: The Roughnecks - those who could make do in the roughest of situations.
