Baron/Baroness
A Lord or Lady of Nobility, usually one that has inherited that nobility. It is one step higher than the "catch-all" Lord/Lady, but it is worlds apart.
In small towns, Barons are expected to run their town as Mayors, Judges, Commissioners, and Executioners. They outrank anyone else in a given town - even city elders. In larger cities, there may be many Barons or Baroness', each with one high ranking role mentioned above.
A Baroness is usually one of minor diplomatic connections - while many Baroness' do not personally know the King, they will be familiar with the Dukes and Counts of the land.
