Banner Horn

What was once a way to signal to others who's army was whose and where important people were locate, the Banner horn is now mostly an instrument used in vanguard bands. Banner horns are firstly banners and secondly horns. As with most other banners, it looks like a stick with a flag on the top and an umbrella capping it, both having the symbols of whatever it wanted to portray. But the Banner Horn differs due to it being hollow and having a hole in the center of the umbrella portion. When a banner horn player blows into a small mouthpiece that juts near the bottom, it creates an impossibly loud sound that can be heard hills away.

During modern wars, it is not a good idea to let your position be known, so the use of the banner horn has moved from militant stratagy to musicians. Modern banner horns are much smaller, able to be carried on one's back, the size of the flag and umbrella also much smaller. Modern banner horns also have a greater range in sound, holes added to the shaft to allow for notes to be played.
