This is where the humans live who work in
Littledenn. They are ruled by a headman who liaises with the Littledenn Village Chief over job allocation and anything they need.
Appearance
The settlement is in a giant clearing between the trees, encircled by a low wickerwork woven fence. Some branches overhang the fence, but not even a sapling grows within the barrier. There is a few strides before the buildings, each with a thatched roof and small windows.
There are various buildings within the settlement, including dorms for the older, unmarried boys and girls, small dwellings for families, a communal kitchen, and a meeting hall. At the centre of the buildings is an open space where any gatherings are held. It is also used as a general socialising area by the women and children during the day. Those that can, sit and work there when the weather allows, and those that need to go elsewhere to work will return to sit with them on their breaks. Grubby children run between them with a handful of scrawny dogs who also live there.
There is only one gate in and out of the settlement and humans need permission to pass through it. That's normally only given for those who need to do so for work reasons.
Dorm houses
There are separate dorms for the unmarried boys and girls. They have flagstone floors, thatched roofs and house ten beds each. They stand five on each side, each with a woven screen between them. And each person has a chair and a chest at the end of the bed to store their belongings in, as well as their bed.
Meeting house
The meeting house is a wide, squat building on the edge of the settlement, built outside the fence, under the trees. The fence runs up to each side of the front wall, with the rest of the building poking into the forest beyond the settlement boundary. It has double doors, with a carved slitted eye above.
Inside there are rows of benches facing the front, with a small stage at the end.
Jobs
Humans provide washing, cleaning services for the bears, as well as being expert weavers and working on things to keep their own community running, like food preparation and harvesting.
Food and drink
Common drinks are herbal teas of different kinds, and perry for celebrations.
Their diet is mainly bread, meat and vegetables. Stews are common made from plentiful vegetables, chunks of various meats in a thick sauce. These are often spiced with paprika or pepper.
Celebrations
As music is risky, due to the fact is harnesses the magical powers on Kaitstud, entertainment when there are no
Conservatoire members present generally takes the form of clapping contests. Contestants take it it turn to repeat rhythms, getting more complex every time.
