Xeléna, the Flame from Ash (zeh-LAY-nah)

Xeléna is the redeemed goddess of burning flame, risen from the dust of what she once was and created anew, serving as the ever-present light of hope for those who worship her.

Xeléna's Doctrine

While Xeléna is an easy god to follow, with her undying care and acceptance, embodying these ideas to preach them can be difficult. The most devout are expected to grant forgiveness to anyone who asks for it, regardless of what they may have done in the past, and to maintain the belief that anyone can be redeemed with time and care. In practice, this can be very difficult to hold to.

The Devouring Flame

Before the Exodus, Xeléna was a celestial titled The Devourer. She was a creature of pure flame, burning the creations of the divines away in devastating conflagrations until Canethri, before his ascension, challenged her. She accepted, knowing that she could win in an honorable battle. However, she underestimated her opponent. Canethri didn't engage in honorable battle—he tricked her, and she lost. Her fire was taken from her, but she didn't die. Without the power she had before, she wandered Kairos alone for years. As the story goes, she grew to admire the beauty of the material plane, and her mind slowly changed. Eventually her fire began to return to her, but she had no desire to return to what she was. Instead, she wandered Kairos, giving her fire to those who needed it. Her apotheosis in the Exodus was unexpected, but she fit quickly into her role. Now, she is known for taking wayward souls and extending her light to anyone who needs it, regardless of their previous actions, as long as they strive to be better.
