Ly'lath, Devourer of Dreams
The Dream Devourer sates his hunger by feeding on the dreams of mortals, but he can also be called upon.
Ly'lath's Doctrine
Ly'lath rarely distributes the power he's accumulated. The few clerics he does have draw from nightmares and fear to make the wicked suffer. They have no preconceptions of justice or moral high ground, but rather rejoice in the suffering of evil. Foes of Ly'lath's clerics are rarely killed, but instead tortured until their persecutors are satisfied that they've served their penance. The Nightmare-Eater
Ly'lath stalks Kairos in the dead of night, hiding in the shadows and feeding on the dreams of the unsuspecting. He ascended to the Pillars not long after the Exodus, while the pantheon was in turmoil and the fragile peace they live in now didn't exist. It's accepted that he was once mortal, but he became something else long before his apotheosis. How he came to be this creature of night and hunger has been lost to time. It doesn't seem that his transformation has ever been replicated, and most believe that is for the best. It seems that his rise to godhood wasn't intentional, but rather a reaction of the Pillars to his accumulation of power while he existed on Kairos.Mortal Ties
There are those that believe the Dream Devourer hunts indiscriminately, with no regard for who his victims are as long as his hunger is slaked. In truth, there are those he spares, and even those he protects under the cover of darkness. Children often call out for Ly'lath to consume their bad dreams so they can sleep peacefully, and sometimes, he even responds. He has no such sympathy for those who call out for power. Ly'lath is a creature that takes and feeds for his own gain. It's unclear why he seems drawn to aid the young. Some believe he may have a soft spot for the vulnerable, while others believe he is trying to draw impressionable children into his bloody service.
