Jorith, Queen of Lies (YOR-ith)

"Jorith's cleric was actually the first to try to kill me for asking questions. Perhaps I should have expected that."
Before the Exodus, Jorith was a keeper of stories. Now, she deals in secrets and darkness, hoarding the knowledge she's accumulated over the millennia and gathering still more through her agents across the planes.

Jorith's Doctrine

Jorith teaches her followers to gather and hoard knowledge, that knowledge itself is a means to an end. To her acolytes, manipulating and obfuscating the truth is equivalent to prayer, because every secret that dies with a follower of Jorith becomes part of the Queen's hoard of sequestered knowledge. She tends to attract people looking to keep their own secrets, and pendants of Jorith are common on assassins and runaways, but her most treasured acolytes are those who actively seek knowledge for her. Tomb raiders, spies, and even the odd professor are often among her more powerful clerics—all those who claim to share knowledge but keep the most vital information to themselves and their goddess.

Severed in Darkness

Many ties were sundered in The Exodus; Jorith and Caelia's connection was severed long before it. They were married, in as much as the gods follow mortal traditions of marriage. Caelia carried the night and the stars, and Jorith traveled the darkness, searching for lost secrets and new stories. When Jorith became jealous of Caelia's power, they split, and now Jorith takes great pleasure in sewing fear and doubt in her ex-lover's demesne.

The Lady of Gehenna

After the Exodus, the fiends who had been feeding on mortals in The Celestial Age were little more than fodder for more powerful things to kill, and three of the gods capitalized on this. Jorith hid away the yugoloths and allowed them their own domain in her realm. She likely doesn't lead or order them, but they do foment her will in the Pillars and in the material.
