Haale, the Demonforge (HAW-lay)

Deep in the Pillar of Chaos, The Burning River divides roiling chaos and the endless pit of The Abyss.

Haale's Doctrine

Haale is the patron deity of creations built to destroy. It resides in the Pillar of Chaos, and it doesn't move like most Dominions do. It is tied with its landmark in the Pillar, and if it can leave, it doesn't. Haale reaches across the realms through the weapons created in its forge. Most of its "followers" are demons carrying these weapons, but sometimes, particularly when one of the Abyssal blades lands in the material, mortals become instruments of the Demonforge. With demons, Haale only gives any divine power to those who forge their own weapons, but it treats mortals differently. There are those who wield demonfire blades that seem innocuous until they grow in power with their wielder, and there are those who hone their skills, groomed by other cultists to eventually try to brave a Plane Shift to create blades in the Pillar of Chaos. If this has ever been successful, nobody knows about it. Haale is considered a malevolent god, but there's no indication that it only empowers those who seek to do harm for harm's sake. It isn't known to have many clerics, but when it does, the relationship is esoteric, and usually unique to the individual. Certainly it has the capability to imbue mortals with powers of creation and of its fire, but why it does is difficult to generalize.

The Forge of the Pit

Haale, a place as much as an entity, marks the only definitive border in the realm of chaos. On one shore of The Burning River is Nimhaesh's seat of power, the Pillar of Chaos. On the other, the demons' Abyss. As the demons fight their endless feuds, only the most powerful find their way to the surface, where they forge vile artifacts of destruction in Haale's fires. It's said that Haale has no angels, but rather puts its power into the weapons created in its fires, resulting in unfathomably powerful divine artifacts. Most of them never see the material, but some of them have ended up in mortal hands.
