The Iron Face

A god of knightly strength depicted as a helmed warrior.

Social Provision

Temples and shrines to Iron Face are places where veteran warriors are supported, and where they can go to receive care that they may need following injuries. Those too old or injured to continue as warriors can, if they have no other means of support, undertake what labours they are capable of for the temple and in exchange receive food and safe lodging.

Holy Books & Codes

These are the words that are stamped in steel.  No flame of forge may melt the lightest word   Do you seek to serve the Iron Face? Then seek out a remote place and take vigil there from dusk to dawn with naught but fire and steel. If he wishes your service he will challenge you. Meet your fears and rise above them reborn, or be crushed by them and live ruled by them.    Do you seek the favour of the Iron Face? Then deny yourself those things which are pleasant and easeful to yourself for his sake. For a day, a week, a month as you shall choose, declare a vow to stand apart from some such thing and keep it. Weaken not your body with fasting from food or water entirely, but from sunrise to sunset only.   Do you seek to walk in the sight of the Iron Face? These are the oaths that please him.
  • Obey your Lord
  • Obey your King
  • Uphold Justice
  • Protect the Helpless
  • Be True.
Each is more weighty than the last.   Do you seek the will of the Iron Face? Then of each thing make this prayer: "Show me what must be done and give me the courage to do it."

Divine Symbols & Sigils

A sword displayed vertically, hilt upward.   A closed iron helm with eye-slits but no other features (other than sometimes an embossed central sword as above)   Associated correspondences are the metal Iron, the Sword and the gemstone ruby.

Tenets of Faith

The deeds a person does is what defines them rather than any inward factors. Remorse without atonement is hollow.
