Fox Elves
Fox elves are one of the many tiny subspecies of the elves. Compared to the more regular elves, fox elves are lower in height, a little above five feet usually and they only live for a couple of years, two decads usually. Their name comes from their visual and behavioral likeness to foxes. Their hair spans from red to pale orange and their ears pierce the hair veil and end in wide spikes.
Their life ends when a special storm comes and a long winter begins. They pull themselves into deep cave systems and when the winter is over, their offspring comes crawling out.
Like most elves they live their lives in the forests, but unlike others they only hunt for food, not spending too much time wondering if they should spare a soul. They usually form small families, up to five members. They hunt all animals they can take down by themselves, ranging from bunnies, through small deers, sometimes even dearing up to bears if the party is strong. After hunting and killing an animal, fox elves prefer eating it raw. In fact, they even have trouble digesting cooked and differently temperature altered meat.
For the most part, they use simple weapons: claws, hooks, sickles and small one use crossbow-like mechanisms.
Unlike other elves, they usually don't know how to speak. Among themselves they communicate with body language, but they stray away from other races. They live in the deep woods, but sometimes individuals tend to come out into the world by themselves and manage to learn simple languages.
Due to their simple way of life, hardly any of them get far from being true neutral.
When hunting, fox elves like to climb trees and leap at prey from high up, surprising it. They have mastered climbing on trees and can safely sleep on top of branchces without fear of falling down.
Due to their natural upbringing, they cannot learn any advanced ways of life or magic. Therefore they can never learn how to read or study. However they are also excellent hunters.

They average on slightly taller than men. As is usual for elves, they are slim but muscular.
Genetics and Reproduction
Reproduction of fox elves is unknown to men. All they know is that at some point before the long winter the older generation descends into caves and once it ends their children come out.

Children emerging from the caves are adult by all means.
Ecology and Habitats
All fox elves that reproduce live in deep woods away from civilization. They don't increase in numbers, but neither are they in decline. In essence they are a part of the habitat.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Fox elf's diet consists of fresh meat, leaves, berries and roots. They do not store food and when they do leave forests they have to be wary about consuming stored or heat treated meals.

Usually their hair are coloured in line with the natural colours, ranging from brown to orange and red.

Almost all natural sightings of groups and families of fox elves happened in the Land of Finn .

Even though they can hardly speak (if ever) their intelligence is on par with other elven species.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Fox elves have better senses of sight and hearing, especially in a forest environment. In very rare cases they are able to read minds of other beings.
