19.12.2022 - Scribe-5 - Disarming the Bomb

General Summary

• There are so many duvees and pillows that it is hard to see if there is actually someone in the bed
• The beeping noise is going faster and faster, winding up for something
• In the skil challenge, you can only use skills you are proficient in, and only once per characters
• Need 5 sucesses before you get three failures
• Coty is fastest to reach, and conjures four ice elementals (memfits(?))
• Two of them go for the device to find the off button. The two others go for the bed
• They tell Coty that they have found a large red button.
• The two that went for the bed moves the duvet, revealing a figure with grey heir and pale skin, wearing a dark hood
• The figure in the bed stirs a bit, making Coty roll a wis save, charming her and three of the elementals.
• She telepathically tells Coty "Help me"
• Coty is forced to use a reaction to help the Empress. "Wake me"
• Coty crawls into the bed and tries to shake the Empress awake
• Void casts fly on himself and flies up to the device and hits the button as hard as he can
• He gets shocked with electricity, and the invisibiility is dispelled
• Arnini appears and scolds us to leave it alone
• The device sends out four beams of power into spots on the
• Scribe-5 uses Dispel Magic on it. One of the energy beams blinks out
• Pools of darkness gather behind the statues by the door. Bucket crits his save, and Sylword rolls really well
• It is the "child", though we can't see through the darkness
• Sylword then becomes incapacitated by despair and hopelessness (?). He is on the ground crying. We can spend an action shaking him out of it
• Bucket gives him a peptalk as a fellow Shield Bro and shakes him out of it.
• Sylword tries to read Arnini, and see where his attention lingers
• There are bodies under the bed, which Arnini keeps glancing at. He is also looking at a large red crystal and two smaller crystals inside the device. He also looks worried about the missing arcane beam.
• Arnini hasn't moved since he appeared, and doesn't seem to plan on moving
• Sylword shouts to Void about the crystals, but Void crit fails trying to extract them
• One of the crystals lands in the bed, and disappears among the fabric
• Esteemed Custodian Auren comes into the room, yelling at us to stop waking the empress
• Coty asks the Empress if destroying the device will wake her up
• She summons ice spikes and shuts down two more beams
• Void also gets charmed, spending his reaction to Detect Magic to notice heavy magical effects on the sleeping Empress. He uses Dispel Magic. He succeeds...
• Some of the fog around the Empress is dispersed, and she breathes heavily in as her eyes open
• She tells Void "I am stuck. Help. I am so thirsty, come closer"
• As Void comes closer, Auren screams out "Noooooo! What have you done?!"
• The Empress seems to be very weak, and has a hard time moving. She doesn't seem completely awake yet.
• "Must drink. Bring me the betrayer. Do this for your Empress. Bring the betrayer, the one responsible"
• Auren can assist with making her fall asleep again
• Neither Arnini or Auren can tell Void who made the Empress fall asleep
• Arnini slips up and reveals that he is supposed to bring this whole place with him, since Malagnim cares about this place
• Void convinces Auren to come over (Crit), claiming that it is safe
• Scribe-5 Reverses the beam of magic, making the the device explode (with investigation and Dispel Magic).
• Arnini is panicking, disappearing. It was a small beam from the device projecting Arnini in the room
• Coty and Void rush to prevent the device from landing on the Empress. Coty rolls well and Void crit fails. Void makes a mess of debris on the bed
• Auren rushes over to the bed to assist Void
• Sylword and Bucket realize that Coty and definitely Void are not themselves.
• Bucket grabs Auren's collar, stopping him in his tracks and telling him that it is a trap
• Sylword moves a bit closer and uses Speak With Dead on the bodies under the bed
• "How did you get here?": "We went to attend the Empress"
• "How long have you been here?": "Two days"
• Bucket fills Scribes in on the charmed effect
• Auren seems to be scared of the Empress as the biggest evil he knows, and trying to ignore the creature in the corner
• The Empress grants Coty a boon, making the bodies start shaking and moving. Three undead crawls out from under the bed
• Coty tells them to get her the betrayer. They walk towards Auren, along with mephits
• Scribes tries to plead with Coty, to no effect
• Sylword throws a chair at her, but crit fails, and throws it at Void instead
• As the skeletons come closer, Scribes casts Magnify Gravity, hurting them and bringing them to the floor, but not stopping them from crawling further
• Sylword asks the now undead corpse if Auren is the betrayer
• It says Auren stole something from the Empress to gain more time? (hørte ikke helt)
• The skeletons tries to pry Auren away from Bucket, but he is too strong
• Coty is getting impatient, and envelopes Auren in a water sphere, moving him towards the bed
• Sylword casts Animate Object on the duvet below Coty, to wrap her and drag her towards us
• Bucket dispells the water sphere
• Void casts Arcane Gate next to Auren, but Scribes counterspells it
• Coty gets out of the duvet and casts Wall of Water
• Both Sylword and Scribes fail at shaking Coty out of it
• Scribes counterspells a Hold Person from Void
• Scribes manages to dispel the charm effect on Void
• She then Magnifies Gravity as an opportunity attack on Coty
• The Empress tells Coty not to fight her friends, just to get her the blood(?) of the betrayer. She then dismisses the charm spell
• Coty goes into one of the unexplored rooms, looking for a faster way out
• She sees a lot of horns, like Void has
• And skin with a lot of tatooes like Lorladon was collecting
• There are also several of warforged heads on display
• Tries to warn Scribes not to go in there, but she is suspicious of the charm
• Coty dismisses the Wall of Water
• Sylword picks up the corpse he spoke to earlier
• He asks the corpse "Is this what Auren has been doing?": "Auren has been betraying our Empress. Custodians should advise"
• Scribes cautiously walks around Coty and enters the room
• She sees the horns, hooves, clothing. She recognices the skin tattooes like Lorladon, but also like Void has on his hand
• There are two rows of shelves with warforged heads
• Several of them has her design
• Two of them has engravings that none of the others have; The Arnini crest on the inside of its head
• She stands there, staring at the heads
• Coty and Void comes into the room after her
• Void sees the tiefling horns and the smaller horns, and the tattooes like his
• He walks over to the tattoo. None look exactly like his, but several are very similar
• A letter is behind it: "To my glorious hero Void"

Plan

Be distressed at the warforged heads. Void is about to read the letter. Bucket is running away with Auren, while Coty is still un-magically convinced to bring Auren to the Empress. We need to find out the truth, and whose side to chose.
Sylword is carrying a corpse.
Scribes want to know why someone has been gathering these things.
