Clanmaster

Clanmaster is a title bestowed upon an Etsuman who owns a large portion of land upon the Isle of Etsuman, and as such, is the leader of the clans dwelling there.
Clanmasters may choose to pledge themselves and their clan to the Grand General, or they may choose to rebel against the incumbent, attempting to seize the generalship for themselves.
Clanmaster is a hereditary title, but if an heir is not available, occasionally methods of choosing a new Clanmaster are employed. Otherwise, it is not uncommon for a Clanmaster to be deposed by being defeated in battle, the victor seizing the land (and thus title) of the other.
