Tiger eye agate was falsely believed to be useful for warding off or controlling undead, it is still used in many magical and inks, powered, and other burial rituals. It is unclear on what its true magical purposes.

Regardless of this lack of evidence, the legend generated demand for tiger eye to be powdered and used in inks to mark caskets, sarcophagi, and tombs to prevent the dead from rising, and as an ingredient in potions of undead control.
