Morenhjem – Land of our Mother

Morenhjem is the name of the land and society of the inhabitants of Klordrager. The name traces its lore back to the belief that the Mother Goddess, Wolkengot delivered her children on these lands and islands to hide and keep them safe.

For a time she walked among side her children teaching them all her tricks and secrets, from using the winds to fill their sails for travel, to controlling their shapeshifting. For fear of discovery and retribution from other gods and races she did not provide them easy access of travel through land; never opening up passages through the mountains. So the people of Morenhjem became a seafaring culture. As time passed and her children had children, Wolkengot deposited them on all the various islands, the stronger ones as a proper defensive measures, the inner islands for resources. Yet, before she could finish teaching them all she knew, Wolkengot disappeared from the presence of her children.

Each island and clan interrupted her absence differently and attempted to reconcile themselves to her; some thought she was anger because clans were so different, and they began seek unification. After extended raids, conquests, and war, Morenhjem entered into a time of united and unification, though not all clans readily joined, the outer ring of islands never have fully accepted or adopted the ways of the Klor-Middre the culture and society hub of the nation.
