Chapter 4: Choir of Angels Report
General Summary
This chamber is circular with a moat of sewage surrounding a bare platform in the center. Around the
outer wall of the room is a narrow 3’ ledge connected to the center of the chamber by three arched stone bridges. On this ledge stand ten orcs.
From the west side of the room a staircase descends into the center of the platform. Opposite the stairs to
the east, is an alcove containing a table, chairs, and many crates and boxes. There is a man sitting at the table with five giant weasels around him. A ladder at the back of the alcove leads to an opening high in the wall. The entire area is torch lit.
Jack the Orc Killer , leans down and test the dirt in the dark tunnel before him. He hold a torch close to the ground and looks for the lite foot falls of a experienced rogue. To the common eye there were no foot prints at all, but Jack had spent much of his time hunting for poor lost souls in the woods or the black taunted souls of his hated enemy. He calls the giant weasel to follow.
But there is something else here bare foot prints...after tracking for 60 feet in the dark, Jack finds only the light padded step of the Slaver and the bare footed step of a man.
Out of the darkness steps physically exhausted naked man, but his eyes where a blaze with anger. The Ranger stepped quickly and drew an arrow. The monk stepped forward holding out his hands and quietly whispers to the man "We mean you no harm...we are not slavers."
"i know" said the dirty naked man. "I watched the slavelord run by some time ago. He was headed to the temple above."
"I am Agni, of Saint Cuthbert and these are my friends..." He look over both his shoulders to the rest of the party, than back to the naked man with a shrug.
"I am Wiley Coyotaa of Ogard in the province of Ne ogard." replied Wiley.
"Coyotaa?" asked Testie the Big 'Big' Testie "Did you work in the Arenas as a Gladiator?"
"I did" replied Coyotaa.
"Very good, I made a ton of gold on your work!" said Big with a grin.
"Well I have a gift and had they not poisoned me I would have been a great champion!" replied Coyotaa.
Big took some items out of the pack, it was some shiny chain mail and a Broad sword. "Here you go..."
The monk moved forward and ask Coyotaa if he was hurt or injured. He said he was fine and at that they moved up the steps to the secret door into the temple.
The evil chants echoed through the small Trap door and down into the dark tunnel where the party stood and waited for some kind of opening in the ceremony.
Agni listen to the dark chants of the cleric above...Agni: [SKILL] Religion [MOD:WIS] (vs. Target 20) [SUCCESS by 14] [1d20 = 6]
It was a sacrificial blood chant to the god Grummsh...they would begin to kill the slaves soon. The had to act now.
The group readied their spells and equipment.
suddenly everything went quiet...Gar peaked though the trap door...
Beyond these double doors, is a large open room, lit by braziers and candles. The scent of incense is faintly noticeable. Across the room opposite the door is a dais and an altar. This consists of a semi-circular 3-step raised platform projecting out from the wall. On the dais rests a gigantic statue. This statue is of a one-eyed orc-like humanoid standing with legs spread, holding a sword in both hands above his head. In front of this statue, standing on the main floor, are 3 half-orcs dressed in plate mail and carrying halberds. Behind them stands a woman wearing plate mail and carrying a mace. To the right of the double doors is a poorbox mounted on the wall. To the left and in the corner is a font with 10 slaves chained hand and foot beside it.
Agni cast a bless over the party and Big readied a magic missle. "count of three...1...2...3"
