T'Salizar (T-Sal-iZarr)

Thri-kreen *click* will always endure and *click* survive. -Chak-Taka

Geography

T'Salizar is a desert planet with only a couple of oasis's scattered about. The landscape is dotted with large dunes and small sandy spires as well as mountains. But for the most part T'Salizar is a large salt flat. As a result of this not many plants grow outside of the areas occupied by sand dunes. The only source of water would be rain which is sparse or the scattered oasis's in the sand dune area. There are few towns or cities on T'salizar. Most people live in Ma'atra, the capital of the planet that floats on the edge between the salt flats and the sand dunes. But the Thri-kreen live in the mountainous caves of Chil'ek. These cave networks connect all of the mountains in the planet together to form one huge Thri-Kreen society.

Fauna & Flora

People: After the Hive agreed to let outside species settle on the planet you could potentially find anyone here on T'Salizar. Though most often you find desert lizard-folk, dragonborn, and orcs. However, only the Thri-Kreen are native to this planet.   Animals: T'salizar has the largest population of reptilian creatures in the galaxy. Though they are mostly known for the Salt-lick Toad. A pale and rough looking toad that is a valuable pet on the black market since the Hive wont let them be exported off planet. Likely due to their burrows being used to hold the larvae of the Thri-kreen.   Plants: There's a saying on T'salizar regarding plant life. "Eh? whats a plant?"

Natural Resources

The main resource of T'Salizar is salt. With huge plains of salt the people of Ma'atra export it off planet nearly 24/7 and it never seems to run out.

History

The presence of salt flats on T'Salizar seem to indicate that this planet may have once been an oceanic one. This is also supported by the sand dunes and oasis's that are scattered about the place which as scientists have theorized may have once been land. But this is all assumption as nobody on the planet, even the native Thri-kreen, remember a time when the planet was not desert. In 25 AE VSF member Janice Garza, ancestor to current Commander Garza of the Redwatch, came across T'Salizar on a scouting mission. She and her team descended at night to avoid the scorching daytime temperatures. However, they were unaware of the Thri-kreen and their propensity to travel and hunt at night. Shortly upon leaving her ship Officer Garza and her men were surrounded by hunters, psions, and findsmen, warriors of the Thri-Kreen. They were escorted to the Hive queen for questioning. The naturally xenophobic race were concerned and apprehensive about these new creatures that just showed up on their planet from the sky. After it was determined Officer Garza and her men were just explorers and no threat to their hive they were allowed to leave. The only stipulation being that they could never return. This remained true and even during the Great Colonization T'Salizar was off limits to pioneers.    It wasn't until 300 GA that the Galactic Council began sending diplomatic discourse to the Hive, offering the Hive queen a place on the council in exchange for people to begin living on the planet. This was refused since they didn't want to mingle with anyone else nor did they want anyone on their planet. Ignoring these requests Citalia decided that they would try and be sneaky and colonize in the salt flats far away from the mountains. The settlers created Ma'atra and began harvesting salt to export off world. The ruse worked for forty years as the reclusive Hive remained around their mountains. The people of Ma'atra dropped their guard however and began installing lights so that they could continue their business at night. This led to the inevitable light pollution that was visible for miles and miles away. In 340 GA the Hive discovered their presence and would attack the capital in the night, killing hundreds. The skirmish did not last long as the warriors were much more skilled than the guards of Ma'atra. This prompted quick action from the Galactic Council who tried to secure peace on the planet explaining that humans had been there for four decades already and have not bothered The Hive once till now. After days of negotiation the two parties came to an agreement that people would be allowed to remain under the condition that the Hive would decide where they can and cant build. In return the Hive would cease hostilities. This is the way it has been for hundreds of years and while there was a brief adjustment period Ma'atra has become a thriving trade city.   In 1222 AH it had become clear that the Galactic Councils deal made with The Hive was not one they were upholding. Ma'atra grew daily and mining efforts of the town had increased production without consultation from The Hive. In addition membership of the council came with the conditions on No Contest for their planetary resources. As such The Hive declared they were pulling out of the Galactic Council and would exile the Ma'atrans, willingly or no, then once again close off their planet from the greater galaxy.
