Noximenetic

In truth the Noximenetic faith (or Noxian for brevities sake) was never really Noxian. The people who we have called Noxians never had a label for their faith. To them their faith was all there was. There was no need to name it for names are used to distinguish one from another.

Culture

The Noximenatic faith is best understood through the stories of their faith. Noximenatic stories always are told through the eyes of mortals but mortals are never part of their stories. It is always about the different gods and goddesses and the events of their lives. This is indicative of two things. First being that the hierarchy was well established, humans were beneath the gods and the gods held the perception of importance. Second being that due to the narrative style, first person accounts, one could believe that the Noxians and their deities co-existed. A strange thought but with the strangeness of current times its not too hard to believe.

Public Agenda

The Noximenatic religion never had a goal it appears. However, most of the societies history has been lost to the ages. In an abstract and educated assumption it would appear as if the Noxians focused primarily on the betterment of their own society as opposed to conquering and expanding.

History

Much about Noxian faith is unknown. A great pioneer in this field however was Jane Cassia Windbeak whose efforts to uncover the origins of this universe oftentimes unearthed Noxian ruins on T'Salizar. This would also be the ideal time to break down the Noximenetic name. The Noxians did not have a label for their religion because there was no other religion and as such no reason to name it. Early Lumenarran scholars analyzed reliefs and artwork inscribed on the temple walls they could find. Based off the imagery the old Library Scholars named the culture Noximenetic which means "Pertaining to the Night Men." This was in reference the the mortals dark almost pitch black depictions of their skin color. Additionally they had also discovered that the Noxians were almost entirely nocturnal. Likely due to the desert heat of T'Salizar. From the texts that we could find amongst the ruins of desert temples it would appear that the Noxian cities were utopian oasis's amongst the desert.

Disbandment

The end of Noximenatic culture is largely a mystery in terms of specifics. We know due to carbon dating that they were the first civilization though this runs somewhat counter to Voxian faith of the Garden World's corruption it does not exclude it. It is entirely possible that Noximenatic society existed during the same period as early Voxian faith. However scientifically Noxian faith came thousands of years before the Voxian Church grew to the size it is today.    This however is simply build up to what is assumed to have happened to Noximenatic society. After Noxian faith according to historical record and tablets of the time, ancient beings descended and destroyed Noxian cities and forced them into extinction. Then afterwards The Old Gods took the seat of religious importance in the galaxy. Something in itself that is fascinating due to the lack of interconnected planets and ignorance of alien life we all have a point in each of our planets history where the same gods became the majority. When the Old Gods took over and then the New Gods took control from them the Noximenatic faith just disappeared into obscurity.

Mythology & Lore

From what could be pieced together of the ancient Noximenatic faith the people believed in primordial waters. A sea of potential that underlies everything and on that sea lies us. From the Primordion emerged Ra who then created the world and other gods so he wouldn't be lonely, Geb, Shu, Nut, Ma'at, and Sekhmet. Ma'at brought order to the chaos and Sekhmet fought and dealt with problems that would arise from the Primordion like Ra did. Geb became the earth and Nut the sky. The two fell in love and Ra ordered Shu to become the air to separate the two every day all 360 days for he foresaw her children taking over as ruler one day. However Nut was determined and she went to the moon god Khonshu (whose origin is confusing and oftentimes he's just there.) Khonshu had many roles and many responsibilities. Amongst them was the marking of time. So Nut played a game with Khonshu and for every game she won he would give her an extra day to the year. He accepted and she won 5 days from Khonshu. With Shu's agreement with Ra void for those five days she and nut pumped out 5 different children. Osiris, Isis, Nephthys, Horus the elder, and Seth. They were not welcome amongst the other gods who Ra had progressively brought into existence as they were the first children created by intercourse. As such they had to live amongst mortals, still gods and so they ruled over the mortals. Eventually the others accepted them and lived on the planet created by Ra and took Osiris as their king.    The rest of the mythos is long and extensive and this is the only piece that is roughly consistent amongst the temples in other city ruins.

Tenets of Faith

In general the Noximenatic faith was very loose and didnt hold too many rules like other religions. One was expected to be good and kind to others but oftentimes the social hierarchy was not to be questioned. This moral strength was enforced by the sincere belief that upon death the soul made a very long journey through the Primordius and encountered many challenges. At the end of their journey they'd be judged by Osiris and their heart would be weighed on the scale of truth. Should their heart be pure and full of good deeds it would weight less than the feather of truth and they'd be permitted to eternal peace. If not however their soul would be devoured and they'd cease to exist.

Worship

Worship, like the religion itself, was very hands off. All the gods desired was acknowledgment and so many individuals would have prayer altars in their homes where they would provide offerings of food and other things and say a prayer to start and end their day. Heavy worship was left to the Viziers and the religion itself was very individualistic. Meaning there were never gatherings of religious purpose. Anything resembling such were classified as festivals in which mortals recreated mythological tales of their gods and goddesses.

Priesthood

Priests amongst the Noxians were very highly regarded as they were the intermediaries between the gods and mortals. The priests or Viziers as they were called would work closely with the gods to find out what they desired for the city and the Viziers would see that it be done. These lucky few are chosen very simply, if the individual has a capability for magic (a rare thing it seems in Noxian culture) they would be taken and trained to become a Vizier and then they would be assigned to a city that a god resided over.
