The Valkyra

Kord's Chosen

A selected group of chosen of strong humans, Goliaths and Aasimar, these armoured shield maidens inspire both dreadful fear and fierce loyalty. They are a faction hailing from the Donheil Isles, that of Hus Firma & Hus Grata. They care not for the politics of the lands they hail from. They instead respect strength, honour and battle prowess over everything else.
 They may seem like a nomadic group of barbarians, but are far from it. They have bases in both Lochfort and Old Ashton, where they protect the towns and settlements from the beasts of the icy wastes. The members in Old Ashton also deal with any orc tribes that wander far from G'rukak looking for a settlement to raid. 

Members

The Valkyra are a religious community of women, living under vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience in service to the god of strength & battle, Kord. They serve as warriors protecting the settlements of Hus Firma and Hus Grata from the creatures that lurk within the icy wastes.

Their hair dyed red with blood and their eyes burning with a rage only a fool would ignore, these fierce warriors are solely women. To join the Valkyra the initiate must cut ties to all family and friends, give away all their possessions and venture out into the icy wastes with no equipment. They must survive a fortnight out in wilderness alone, kill a beast and return to the halls wearing its coat. Once they have returned, two Adepta Valkyra will dye the new members hair red with the blood of a beast, cementing the enrolment of the new recruit.

Asta Erpdottir

The Herald of the Stormbringer. Leader and founder of the Valkyra is Asta Erpdottir, is an aasimar of Kord and mighty warrior. Her first memories as a child are running through a frigid battlefield. She has since been in many a battle, and has not ran since. Growing up an orphan Asta became adept at surviving at any environment, as she got older her anger at the wold became greater. She knew she had to channel her rage into battle, or risk becoming an indiscriminate killer. She learned to fight and hunt, and became a strong warrior in the process.

A coward dies a thousand times, a warrior only once.
