The Fungal Collective

Followers of the Sovereign

The Fungal Collective are a group of like minded individuals who live in the jungles of Kalmori, these beings have cut ties to their previous lives and have devoted themselves to their leader, the wandering Mushroom Man. The collective has members of numerous races, from humans and tabaxi, to a couple of giants, all those who are open minded and in need of guidance find it amongst the charismatic leadership of the magnificent mushroom man.

The Mushroom Man

The Fungal Collective are led by The Mushroom Man, a myconid by the name of Sporp. The commune is based solely around Sporp, gathering food for him, sheltering him or finding anything valuable he might desire. Those who meet the myconid often find themselves attached, attempting to please him anyway they can; for giants this might be bringing him a dead goat, for humans some precious Piri fruit that can be found in the jungle, whatever they think he might need.
Sporp does not command his followers willingly, Sporp accidentally found himself leaving the underdark and is lost in the over-world. He is alone and frightened in the strange world above, which has lead to his pacifist spores working overtime. He wanders the jungle not to bring guidance to the lives of the service dwellers as his followers claim, but instead he wanders the jungle looking for a way home. That is not to say Sporp does not like his followers, he is in fact quite fond of them, but he neither asked nor wished for the reverence they have bestowed upon him.

Tenets

The Fungal collective is made up of free thinkers, people released from the shackles of living up to the rules of their various societies, though they do have some rules:

• All are welcome to join the collective.
• The Mushroom Man will guide us.
• We are free when we are with him.

Ophidiophobia

Whenever a new arrival to The Fungal Collective meets the Mushroom Man, they are warned to never mention the word Snake in the two giants presence, the hill giant Derus and the stone giant Gisal are severely afraid of serpents. The Mushroom man warns all who travel with him that mentioning snakes can send them into a violent rage, though they would never dream of hurting Sporp, they have been known in their tempers to injure other members of the collective.
At one point during the early days of The Fungal Collective, the group came upon a ravine full of serpents with a boulder at the bottom. Derus and Gisal became curious when they noticed the bottom of the pit had a giant boulder with giant script written upon it, they attempted to read the stone writing but it was too far down. They attempted to reach into the pit but they were too big. Eventually Hilman, a human travelling with them, was lowered into the pit to read the language. He was bitten by a poison snake and died. Derus and Gisal have since killed every serpent the come across.
However, normally the two giants are quite passive. They protect the group and ward off most dangers of the jungle just from there sheer presence. Derus is not the smartest but he is the most loyal to The Mushroom Man, as he was one of the first to follow him. Gisal is more intelligent than Derus, he is quiet and keeps to himself, though he follows The Mushroom Man he can also get bored when there is not much fighting to be had.
