Civilization and Culture

History

The Drow began as a cult worshipping the spirits known as Demonics, marauding, corrupting spirits from the The Void. The other Elves shunned them, eventually deciding to exile them to the island of Duagmyr. The drow lived here for over a millenia, oblivious of the changes that had come to the Elves and the Wildlands since their exile.   Eventually, the Drow were persuaded to perform a ritual that would allow a huge population of Demonics to enter their world, assuming that they would protect them, assist them, and rid their world of the Elves, so the world was theirs, and only theirs. However, they were deceived. The Demonics assumed control of the island of Duagmyr, and the Drow were forced underground, though they still worshipped the Demonics out of fear that they would bring the destruction of their species.   Living underground for so long warped the Drow. Their skin was blackened, their bodies changed, to fit their new home. They learned the ways of survival here. Eventually, the area they now knew as the Underdark grew, a complex of tunnels and caves, to cover the entirety of the Wildlands.
