The Bolmean Flood

The Bolmean flood takes place in the area surrounding the Lauroria River in Rarresh, on which is the Rarreshan capitol Bolme. It takes place on the Laurorian River, which is between the Laurorian Lake and the Elune Mar Lake, and has affected the entire river valley. Despite it only affecting 856mi2, it has affected a total of 91k people.   While orignally invited by the people of the river valley, the unnaturally long and strong rain storms, as well as a prolonged rain season would eventually show the Reshan people the negative consequences of heavy and prolonged rain, even in a place that recieves 1767 mm of rain a year (approx 69.5 in or 5.8 ft)   Hardest hit was the northern region of the Laurorian River, closest to the lake of the same name, which takes 2200 mm (86.6 in or 7.2 ft) of rain per year already, with this particular rain season significantly increasing the water levels of not only the river, but also the lake.   The floods have elicited debates among the pious within the Elunemar entho-religion. Some believe that the rains, and even the floods, are gifts of Cetion, the Slient Goddess of the Moon and patron Goddess of Rarresh, as she is believed to control not only the moon, but share influence over water with her sister Thelunaue. However, this has caused some tension, as others believe that they have caused disdain with the Goddess and that the rains and floods are punishment for their malpractice. They argue that they must change their ways and focus on ensuring that the Elunemar people have the favor of the Goddess by spreading their influence across Rarresh, and potentially across Ivryia. Of course, there are others, a rather small part of the discourse surrounding the Flood, that are driven for a more logical and natural explanation for the heavy rain season and flooding of the river and lake. These people tend to be in more academic circles, or some circles of druids that are connected with the land.
