Witch Princess

A Witch Princess is a highly esteemed title granted to those who have shown exceptional skill in magic or made great contributions to society or to magical learning through the use or study of magic.

Qualifications

The rules for gaining this prestigious title are loose. However, it is noted that any witch who shows extraordinarily exceptional skill and knowledge in the craft may be eligible. These people tend to be masters of magic in every form. Often, for a person to achieve this rank, they have contributed to society in some way, usually as a magical leader, hero, or teacher. Many Fairy Witches, who spend their lives helping others through magical contracts have also achieved the rank of Witch Princess or Wizard Prince. Through the witch's contribution, society must be far better off for their deeds.
The witch must also be well travelled and worldly. A high degree of education - formal or not - is preferable, though not required. This is due to the status and role in society a Witch Princess or Wizard Prince holds. They are wise-men and wise-women of society, so their education should reflect the high standards of the role. Many heroes in antiquity have been granted the title.

Requirements

Requirements for the title are as follows:

• May be male or female.

• Must be an active practitioner in magic.

• Must have contributed to the advancement of magic in some grand way.

• May be of any age, though due to other requirements lean heavily toward older individuals.

• Must be a worldly traveller.

• High degree of education of some capacity.

• Fair and balanced in thinking.

• May be Human, Praecantrix or Deus.

• May be of any social class or background.

• Must have mastery over the craft far beyond most other witches.

Appointment

Hundreds of years ago before the monarchy was lost, the title of Witch Princess or Wizard Prince would be granted by the King and Queen. After the fall of the monarchy and loss of the Princes, there had been few people to rise to this rank. When it happened, it was usually by council of many leaders in the witch community who recognize the contributions of the individual. There is a small ceremony to grant the title, though it had much more prestige when the granters were royalty.

Duties

A Witch Princess or Wizard Prince fills a multi-faceted role. It is the only position in the Royal Court that an outsider or commoner can gain. This role essentially grants one the status of royalty equal to that of a Prince or Princess. Witch Princesses fill a guidance role to both the King and Queen and to the wider court governance. They are considered wise men and women and are looked to for all manner of political moves from war to dealings with other kingdoms to the health of the people and land. The requirements for the role overlap with requirements for rule, so many Kings and Queens also have also gained the status of Witch Princess or Wizard Prince. Though any who have gained the title outside of the royal family are still looked to with respect.

Responsibilities

It is the responsibility of a Witch Princess to be a leader to others in the community in many cases. A Witch Princess is someone who is wise and well-knowledged, and can guide people through their lives and important decisions and help when things go awry. They are looked to for strength and for answers not just amongst the peasants and common people, but also by the nobility, the political council and the Kings and Queens. They are often mediators or influencers, though it is due to their powerful status that it is encouraged they stay as neutral as possible, the main advocates for balance.
Witch Princesses are respected in the magical realm by more than just people. Other Fae creatures and even sentient non-Fae also respect people who hold the title. They have a connection to the spirits and know intimately how the runeys function and can easily call large swaths of them for aid. They also advocate strongly for balance in the magical realms not just the personal, social and political aspects of human life.

Benefits

Having the title of Witch Princess or Wizard Prince grants many benefits. Title holders are revered as royalty and are granted access to the royal court. When travelling, they will be granted the warmest hospitality. They may travel anywhere for any reason without much restriction within the country.
