Sunwu King

Sunwu King (a.k.a. Sun)

Sunwu King Male Son Wukong expy
A young Satyrus that is summoned by Saethryth on accident. He is bound to her until she breaks the vow. She forgot the vow breaker, so he can never leave her side. He chose to answer the call despite knowing of the botch, that the summon wasn’t meant for him, thinking it would be fun. He is carefree and fun-loving and plays a lot of pranks. Still, he is happy to fulfil any tasks and requests asked of him by Saethryth. He also enjoys teasing her romantic nature and flirts with her, causing her embarrassment. He loves Saethryth and will stay by her side even if she remembers the vow. In fact, he is powerful enough on his own to have the ability to break it. He doesn’t.
Sun fights with speed, athleticism, and a bo staff. His magic is mostly unknown to witches and the rules are unclear. He can speed up his body and manipulate his staff to his will, among many other things. He also has an affinity with wind.
Satyrus are ape-like magical creatures very closely related to satori. As such, they have high emotive abilities, and can see intentions and emotions of others. The main difference between the two is that Satyrus give birth to twins with every pregnancy, and despite their highly emotive abilities, choose to favour one child over the other, feeling one is always evil or bad luck or will cause misfortune of some sort with their continued presence within the community. Many unlucky, unloved twins are either mistreated severely by the mother or outright abandoned and driven out, left to fend for themselves until death.
Sunwu was the second born after his twin Sonda and was labelled the cursed child. His mother didn’t outright abandon him after birth, continuing to nurse him, though not as long as Sonda. As such, he was smaller, weaker and thus picked on by his brother, until eventually the family turned their backs on him entirely and became one of the many pariahs of their troop. He lived on the outskirts of the troop with other pariah survivors, collecting any surviving child they could, though often it was a struggle, as it was difficult to steal any fruits from the village or surrounding areas, especially the coveted white winter peaches.
In order to survive the winters, which were becoming harder and harder the more survivors they gathered into their forming troop, Sunwu became more daring, stealing from neighbouring magical creatures that surrounded and had connections with the main satyrus group. This strained relations with the satyrus and their allies, and to quell his roaming nature, they begrudgingly came upon an agreement to share some scraps of food in exchange for work and his pacifism.
It was their plan to go off and form a new troop when the weather got warmer. As winter came to a close, the winter peaches started to ripen. Soon the end of year celebrations would begin, sparking a renewal of life, the breeding season, and the celebration that The Black Callitrix has not been born and will not destroy their crops and way of life. It is this boogeyman that causes satyrus to abandon one child to their fates if one feels less agreeable than the other, as the Callitrix is said to be devastating to the whole of Lyria.
Sunwu makes an impulsive decision, stealing all the winter peaches in the night, giving half – an eighth more than they were promised – to his troop, stealing many potions and secrets from the stores of his people and sets off with his troop. As they decide where to live, who will lead them, there is a summon portal that appears before them. As they get closer, the portal’s magic gives them knowledge of the situation. It’s not for them, but another species entirely that lives hundreds of miles away. The troop prepare to move on, but Sunwu, taking his portion of peaches and his stolen goods, decides to take it when he looks into the witch who sent the summon. Instantly he is attracted to her passion and the warmth in her heart, never having experienced such a feeling before. His troop completed their goals. They’ll be fine now, especially if they plant the winter peach pits under the light of the full moon.
