Culture

Kyros is the newest country to have entered the world stage in the Entwining Sea. It was part of the Empire of Justienna up until 1498 A.R. when the people of the flame eye isles rebelled and established themselves as the Republic of Kyros. Kyrosians have strong beliefs around individualism and self that are reflected in their art and government. They hold vast concerts for singular individuals, their artwork often showcases the display of the complexity of each individual in accomplishing a grand task and having importance of the individual leading at the front of these crowds. Their government also reflects this by placing power across the Highborn, and the Common people of the country. This is radically different from their closest neighbors and former subjugators The Empire of Justienna. The People themselves embrace the teachings of their Patron God Caden Calyin, the god of Freedom, and seek to emulate that in everything. Gold and Trade are central to the nation and discussions of economics prevail across the spectrum of all who live there. Slavery while not outlawed in other countries is here and dealing with slaves is prohibited if flying under the flag of Kyros. This all, in turn, leads to a generally open mind to the different races that live in the country and they enjoy exploring new interests and hobbies creating an air of freedom that is not felt any other of the nations of the Entwining Sea.

Public Agenda

Kyros stands by to not engage in war unless threatened by foreign powers and seeks to continue to establish free trade in all the nations.

History

Kyros was founded in 1498 A.R. in the aftermath of a bloody civil war that lasted 3 years. Before the rebellion, it was a vital island location to the Empire of Justinena as it was used for resupplying and repairing their ships to protect their control of the shipping lanes across the continent. The citizens and non-citizens both were under great duress by the ever-demanding senate to create, rebuild, and maintain the fleet that was depleting the grand forests of Kyros. Under this strain, the citizens partitioned to their representative in the Senate only to be dismissed, and eventually, their representative was sent back home and not asked to return. This outrage echoed throughout all the citizens of Kyros and many of the slaves were unsure as well as many heard of the failed rebellions of the mainland. A revolutionist movement led by Karnack Edemstal was slowly gaining traction before the dismissal of their representative but following that event, it escalated and many joined him and his radical ideas of breaking away from the empire. It came to be in the first year that coordinated attacks were carried out but soon the imperial troops started to apply pressure and soon the revolutionist movement came to the idea of working with former slaves (which numbered close to a million at the time) but this angered many of the nobles that joined the cause. This split was made even more difficult since the slaves all over Kyros had different leaders. A council of slave leaders was eventually reached after enough slaves were freed and a discussion a decision was made to work together. With the boost of numbers, the imperial troops were overwhelmed and in a decisive battle at the port town of Calvaron captured 100,000 men and were able to force the Empire to recognize the nation's independence and recalled their forces. After the battle was over there were many deals made behind doors to free the slaves and to get a representation within the new government they were making. 99 years have passed since that founding and since that time, the experimental government has held and even thrived becoming the number one naval power in the Entwining Sea.
