The Sylvanites

The trees are not a god or a deity. The council of dryads are immortal essentially because every four to six centuries one dies out and becomes reborn. Right now Vadnera is the oldest, followed by Imana, Yona, then Elene. The teaching of this religion is that even nature has to die or go against its natural law to evolve. This is a teaching a lot of the Ellavara have forgotten.

Divine Origins

In the beginning, there were four goddesses that went searching for a place to plant the seeds of the Islemar. Every soil and biome that came across could not either handle the complex nature of the tree or the land was too overcrowded with other beings. Finally, after centuries of searching, they found the soil that they needed. The four spread to the furthest reaches of the land and each planted their seedlings, and the Islemar flourished into what we now know as Islemaria.   Now over the next several centuries their great forest has been through the worst. Vicious animals tried to claim the forest as their own and some animals even died not being able to handle the forest. Finally, the Ellavara appeared this foreign race of intelligent beings with their dark hair and snowy white skin studied the great goddesses forest and treated it as if it were their own creation. Soon after fruits that have never grown on the trees before grew in the presence of the Ellavara and other plants and animals seemed to be able to handle the richness of the Islemar forest.   One day, a team of researchers ran into one of the goddesses. Terrified of the new discovery but entranced by the beautiful peacefulness of the goddess the researchers bowed in hopes not to anger the goddess. She was indeed beautiful. It was as if she entirety was made up of the forest. She had golden markings across her woody and viney body as if they were her veins, which pulsed with a beautiful glow. When she moved, it was hard to tell where her tendrils and the trunks of the forest began. Her eyes shown the same golden hue that her markings had and on top of her head she sported a great wreath of Islemar branches that seemed to grown from her head with flowers from the forest entwined within. This great creature spoke with the gentleness of an early morning rain.   "There is no need for that my dear children." With a gentle hand she bid them to rise, and they slowly obeyed, surprised by the gentleness. "I have watched your kind treat the forest as if it was your own and since I am one of the mothers of this forest, I look to you as my own, my children."   "I beg your pardon, but they are others?" Said the man who looked like he was the leader of the troop.   She just nodded her head softly. "I have three other sisters in the other corners of this land who have also watched your intentions. And we hope your kind settles here for my sisters, and I aim to grant your kind a blessing for you and generations to come. You may call me Elene, the bringer of Faeln, which brings the life giving rain that nourishes your crops. And with my blessing that rain will be twice as potent even effecting all who live here. Then we have my sisters: Yona, the bringer of Zuna, the bringer of merriment and with her blessing she shall give longer days to enjoy life's pleasures. Imana, the bringer of Klaucius and the bringer of the bountiful harvest, and with her blessing she will give milder weather to provide a break from the Zuna heat. Then finally we have Vadnera, the bringer of Krynolst and provider of frost hardy crops. With her blessing she shall protect all beings from the harshness of her season be plant, animal, or intelligent life form
