Yakivalo Character in Iskatel: Fortunebound | World Anvil

Yakivalo

History and Ascendance

In ancient days, as man learned to build towns and cities, a dwarven boy watched with interest and noted the surpluses and shortages with which each settlement dealt. One day this dwarf took all of his wealth and purchased a wagon, a mule, and all of the surplus of a nameless village and carted it several days journey to another nameless village that suffered shortage of the same good. In making this journey, Yakivalo initiated the first trade route in history and through his 400 years in mortality he would build many more. As the father of all trade, Yakivalo would become a massively wealthy dwarf and pass on to his posterity a tradition of trade houses and commerce, changing dwarven culture forever. Yakivalo died of old age and, upon entering the afterlife, was approached by the prior god of wealth and prosperity — an ancient being more associated with turquoise necklaces and cave paintings than trade networks — and given position in the Twelve. The old god faded away, knowing that his time was over, and went to spend the eternities in both rest and the governance of other worlds.
