Keepers of The Feather

The Keeper of the Feather are the main religion of the Eidar and are a powerful organization to cross. They are divided into two sects officially and their is not much difrance between the two except that one only worships Morgantha Shadowdale a godess of magic, darkness and witchcraft. The other worships the other 12 gods of magic. Their is however a secret sect that worship something else entirely. It is known as the Hag Mother. All the gods of magic have a darker side and Morgantha is no exception her darker aspect is known as the Hag Mothat and the sect know as the Children of the Mother worship her. Getting radicals manly from the older sect which only worships Morgantha they slowly convince and worm themselves into the other sect by pointing out that the Hag Mother is also a godess of magic. These cultists genarly also worship the darker side of the other gods of magic. What makes the Children of the Mother so dangerous is their ability for weird deadly magic that often is hard to counter and an even more dangerous ability is that they can work with anyone all that maters is destroynig Morgantha Shadowdale so their will only be the Hag Mother. They have even been known to work with Elder Evils.
Now their are three leader of the Keepers of the Feather one from each of the domains that Morghantha has the first is Lyrei Paxnia a winter elf how holds the highest rank in the Keepers of the Feather and is of the arcana domain. She is a very close advisor to Triana and always has a raven feather in her hair. The second is Snaroic Frostbeard he is of the knowleagde domain and oversees the excevation of Ravens Hall. The third leader of the Keepers of the Feather is Lander Shadoweye he is of the Twilight domain and is now in Ravens Gate. Lander is also secretly the leader of the Cildren of the Mother

Mythology & Lore

The Keepers of the Feather gain most of their knowledge through the Tome of Ravens both a spellbook and a manuscript about the history and magic of the world (see more the Tome of Ravens).

Divine Origins

The Keepers of the Feather are as old as the Eidar and have been disbanded multiple times throughout history when some other religion takes hold in the clan leader of the Eidar.

Cosmological Views

Since the keepers of the feather mostly believe in Morgantha they (though some believe in the other gods of magic too) only see the world through her own eyes and so the Keepers of the feather are dead set on destroying the Elder Evils and many of Morganthas paladins swear the oath of the watchers. They think that the material plane is orbited by the moons the Shadowfell and the Feywild and that is surrounded by the elemental chaos where Morganthas enemies lie, some of this is true but they are not altogether right.

Tenets of Faith

The tenents of faith are mostly the same as Morgantha as she is still on the Feywild and so she still sends her followers messages and therefore doesn't have thousands of small cadre that spread misinformation on her except for one. The tenets of faith that the Keepers of the feather keeps are to seek knowledge of both the magical and the natural world as well as to guard the world against the incursions of evil (plus of all the normal ones). There is however a sect that has embedded itself into all of the religions that worship Morgantha, they call themselves the Children of the Mother and worship all aspects of Morgantha including the Hag Mother (see above or in sects for more information).

Worship

The Keepers of the Feather have two holy days. One is Candlemass where magical power is made sevenfold (see Candlemass). Where the Eidar clan at night wearing raven masks. Large feasts are held where anyone can enter. Magic is set on display and parties are all over Ravens Hall. The Other holy days is not so cheery it is celebrated on the last day of the year when the people remember the dead and those they have lost. During twilight when the people remain in their houses and pry for their lost kin a great ritual takes place and the spirits of the dead are summoned again allowing their families. This is an eventful occasion for it can only be done every 77 years when the stars align and so this is a happy family reunion. This event is called The Waking.

Priesthood

The Keepers of the Feather are lead by three archpriest one for each of the domains that Morgantha holds. The one how has specialized in the arcana domain is Lyrei Paxnia she resides in Ravens Gate and is a close advisor to Triana. Another is Snaroic Frostbeard he is the keeper of Raven Gates library and is in command of excavating Ravens Hall, he is of the knowledge domain. Then there is Lander Shadoweye he is secretly the leader of the Children of the Mother in this area and he specialises in the Twilight domain and he is extremely skilled, Recently he has been straying further towards death and might soon fall entirely under the sway of the Hag Mother.

Most priests how follow Morgantha Shadowdale can be of the following domains Arcana, Knowledge or twilight domain. Morgantha is not a god that deals in resurrections and so does not often reward her followers.

Political Influence & Intrigue

The Keepers of the Feather are the main religion of the Eidar. And so they do hold a lot of weight in the culture of the Eidar outside of the Eidar they are quite a small religion however the keepers of the Feather are not the only ones to worship Morgoantha Sadowdale and so the Keepers of the Feather get along with their sister religions.

Sects

There are three sects in the larger Keepers of the Feather Religion. The first are the Keepers of the Feather themselves and they guard the tome of feathers and worship Morgantha Shadowdale, they share power with the second sect which the only difference is that instead of worshipping just Morgantha they worship all the gods of magic. The third and final sect is quite interesting for they are a secret one having infiltrated the other two. They call themselves The Children of the Mother and they worship the aspect of Morgantha known as the Hag Mother. They scheme their way to the top and their leader is Lander Shadoweye.
