Sand skiff

Often found in the deserts to the south and west of Solanaveldt, sand skiffs are a popular method for travel across barren deserts and even occasionally grasslands. While animals being used in caravans is still the most common and popular form of transportation, it cannot rival the speed allowed while using a skiff, even on low wind days. These vehicles are designed to be as light as possible so that their sails can make the most out of the wind they are receiving. While one, two, and three person skiffs are the most common, there are stories that there are ones constructed large enough to hold up to ten people. Being as there is no manufacturer, there is no single design, and folks make whatever their skills allow. This allows for a wide variety of skiff design with much argument about what aspects or designs are the best. However most people will tell you that regardless of individual design, the Sal'diri always have the highest tiers of quality craftsmanship. This association has affected people, many who believe the Sal'diri are ruthless killers an raiders, so if they are ever stranded or need help in the deserts they hide or panic preventing either Sal'diri or whoever else from providing hat is often essential assistance. Operating a sand skiff is said to be similar to operating a small sailed water vessel, but wind being ever more important due to the inability to use oars.
