Sal'diri

Descended from groups of Kanoia, primarily Humans, Orcs, and Slyphs, who scoured the deserts in search of Qalani artifacts, an activity they still do to this day when they aren't trading or raiding more "civilized" folks. They travel in groups comprising usually of a single familial clan, however it isn't uncommon for smaller clans to merge or travel together fr safety. Considered as savages by other Kanoia, the Sal'diri had to grow to adapt to their climate, harsh and unforgiving. In order to survive the Sal'diri were drawn to trading because could travel to hard to reach locations better than any other. However, their hardiness soon lent itself to taking from supplies from sedimentary peoples. There are conflicting reports about the Sal'diri, one side is that they will raid violently, but that they also will take tribute and move on. The other side is that they are blood thirsty savages, that they literally drain their victims blood.

Family names

Clan names are passed on to the children born into the group.

Other names

The most important name in Sal'diri culture is the epithet, the name a person earns. Things like "Iron Fist" if they are renowned brawlers or "Serpant's Kiss" if they are well versed in toxins. There is little that will anger or frustrate a Sal'diri more than a name that doesn't match.

In Sal'diri culture it is a custom to house and help those lost in the desert, knowing that any day it could be them.

For both genders, physical strength as well as martial prowess are at the pinnacle of what the Sal'diri view as a beautiful person. Being a skilled merchant or orator is also a skillset highly sought after for a wife.
