The Ithunil Tribes

Overview

After the destruction of their central kingdom, known as Githal, the Ithunil people were forced into an era of exile. Many of the traditional clans were scattered or wiped out altogether, spurring their survivors to intermarry and start over. While several individual families chose to relocate on their own, a majority of the survivors eventually resettled up north off the coast, inhabiting a region that has become known as the Ocean of Exile. For the past twenty years, the Uthunil people have been re-centralizing in spite of how scattered they are. Their settlements in the Ocean of Exile are numerous, but there is one that serves as a common ground, a village where their High Matriarch dwells. This village goes by the name of Nor-Aliath and it serves as a new Ithunil capital of sorts.

The Tribe of Ichulik

The Tribe of Ilu-Thanal

Commonly labeled as the dominating tribe, Ilu-Thanal has many surviving elders, including Ferengal, Arion, Breki, and Iwatul.

Language

Drawn mostly from pre-existing elvish languages, the Ithunil have adapted their words to have more rough sounds, such as 'k', 'th' and 'ch'. The heavy use of 'L' paired with any vowel balances out these rough sounds with softer ones, making it an overall satisfying language to speak.

Technology

Though once originally a primitive, nomadic culture, the Ithunil came to settle into a kingdom constructed of stone. This kingdom era was perhaps the height of their technology, where they relied on thick walls and wooden contraptions for defense, and metal weapons for military purposes. Their technology and weapon-skill brought in enough wealth for them to rival the dark elves' kingdom to the northeast. Though their kingdom was eventually sieged by the dark elves, the Ithunil did not suffer a quick defeat. It took nearly ten years for the dark elves to finally defeat Githal by means of genocide.   In present day, the Ithunil have adapted to being hunter-gatherers with tent dwellings. They are still avid metal workers and capable warriors, though instead of relying on walls for defense they tend to group in large numbers. Using the resources around them, they are adept at harvesting and crafting leather, ropes, and nets.

Goals

Where once their goals in wealth and rivalry were best executed through King Adrien, the Ithunil have been reduced to simply surviving.
