Kobolds
Basic Information
Anatomy
Kobolds are small bipedal reptilian humanoids. Their thick scaled hides vary wildly in colour although kobold tribes tend to mostly share similar colours.
They have strong jaws and prominent claws for their size, and their wedge shaped heads are topped with horns that vary from small bumps to great jagged crowns.
Many believe kobolds to be the smaller relatives to lizardfolk, but any kobold will be quick to correct them, explaining that kobolds are descended from the mighty dragon.
Growth Rate & Stages
Although only six to eight inches in height at birth, neonatal kobolds are able to quickly take care of themselves, often spending the first hour after birth eating the remains of their shells. Cannibalizing other clutchmates is not unheard of and is seen by the adults as a sign of strength. Hatchlings grow quite quickly and double in size every year until achieving their juvenile state at around three. They are considered to be full adults around age 10.
The average life expectancy for a kobold is around 30 years, although in kobold history, kobolds supposedly were able to live hundreds of years, growing the entire time.

History
Although kobolds believe themselves to be the most superior race in Isera, they have been subjugated and enslaved for much of their history.
Owing largely to this fact, kobolds are thought of as weak, cowardly and subservient, while in reality the opposite tends to be true.
Preceding the rise of the great dwarven empire, Draconis, a great kobold kingdom, ruled from the mountain range north of the luminous vale, now known as Terga Draconis. This empire is said to have had dragon protectors, and to have lived a thousand years, and in it, kobolds were said to live over a hundred years, growing to heights to tower over their dwarven leaders. Of course, much of this might be exaggeration on behalf of kobold historians, but the kingdom was real, as evidenced by the many ruins that dot Terga Draconis.
The great kingdom fell when giants invaded from the east to savage the lands, and in the aftermath of the carnage of that war, the dwarven empire was born.
Even driven from their homes, the kobolds having a good relationship with the dwarven thanes were able to survive by moving many of their civilizations underground and into the mountains, offering the dwarves their innate talents in spellcasting in return for refuge.
The waning was devistating to the kobolds, as diplomatic relations with the dwarves took a nosedive when many kobolds decided to stand with the elves in the clash. Being without refuge when the magic died, they were scattered, subjugated and at one point almost exterminated by orcs.
In the current day, kobold populations have started to recover, and the largest populations reside in Larion and in Rydia.
A small faction of kobolds named simply the reclaimers have recently returned to Terga Draconis, with the goal of rebuilding their lost glorious kingdom.
