Vulcanoid High Energy Research Facility

The primary space based research facility for the United Nations, with small collections of scientists from other powers. The structures resemble a chain of beads, strung along at around 0.1 light seconds apart from one another, 24 in total. Each deals with a separate research area, with many being dedicated to a single project. The exact assignments of each are a tightly guarded secret, as are the exact deployments and internal structures. The abundant solar energy, coupled with some high power fusion reactors, mean that even the most power hungry experiments can be performed.
Obviously these stations are mostly based around physics and a little bit of tech, with chemistry taking a back role. Other research facilities around the solar system perform other assignments. However, if you need lots of power, plentiful space, a watchful eye and overall high quality equipment, there is no better place in the SS.
