Wasimian

Wasimians are a tall and lanky species of alien that were once found on the planet Wasim, which is now no more. 
The death of their world was something the Wasimians had time to plan for, and a large Ark ship was launched from their home in a galactic east direction. The Fleshshapers attacked the Ark as it made its ponderous sunlight voyage across the universe- causing untold damage to the vessel and forcing them to land on the planet Haila. 
Almost immediately it became clear that the Ark would never launch again. Although damaged, its weapons were more than a match against anything the human residents of the world were using. Admiral Madeline Beckwater of the Black Surf Floatilla especially coveted the Ark, leading her naval task force against the Wasimians dozens of times only to be pushed back. 
Dr. Thorn and Billy Rigers eventually were able to intervene in the situation, dropping a communication pod at the expense of being shot down and rescued by Beckwater. The Wasimians were able to relate their tale and a deal was struck that they would obtain the planet as a new home, to terraform to their more specific needs and in exchange would remain within United Nations of Worlds territory. 
Currently, there are many Wasimian embryos and very few grown adults to handle their specialize care. The race is recovering, but there is a long road ahead.
