Tenebrian Remnant

History

First encountered on Tsatsos, a squad leader by the name of Kabanda has passed on communication information for his superiors.   The Remnant thus far seems to blame psionics and those who use them for the current galactic disaster, and have openly admitted to executing them when found to prevent something like the Scream from happening again.   Their presence on an otherwise uninhabitable world seems to confirm that they do indeed have spike travel available. Thus far they seem to have shown little interest in Greenbriar.   This changed a few months later, when Remnant infiltrators were discovered on Gudrun. Their shuttle was intercepted by Saul Harcrow and Silvano Mazzio. Prisoners were taken, and it was revealed that their intentions were for a much wider purge of MES individuals. This atrocity was further punctuated by the use of slave soldiers, and willingness to pillage neighboring worlds for resources.   A battle during March 2666 at Aslief brought the genocidal intentions of the Remnant to light, when transports full of slaves had their decks purged, rather than permit the slaves to be liberated or returned home.   A series of running battles on land and space occurred during the remainder of 2666, culminating in the seizure, and surrender of the Remnant at Cruesa in early 2667. It was at Creusa that the hypocrisy of the Remnant was revealed. A maltech device known as a TECT was constructed on the planet. Within the machine, tens of thousands of stasis pods contained Creusa locals that had been press ganged by the Remnant, their minds used to power the telekinetic psychic array in the center of the machine. This TECT was used to mine the gasses and metals of Creusa, and was responsible for feeding the immense resource demands of the Remnant war machine.   At Creusa, the best of the Remnant soldiers, the best of their fleet, and their most impressive technological innovation were destroyed in the largest Post-Scream combined arms operation of the age. Facing their ultimate defeat, the surviving Remnant officials offered their surrender to the newly formed United Nations of Worlds.   Their nobility now resides in exile on Shariar, living out their remaining days under UNW guard.

Organization

The Remnant were made up of several organizations, all under the command of an internally appointed military council.
  • Chainveil- A unit of elite soldiers fanatically loyal to the Remnant and their cause
  • Remnant Office of Naval Intelligence- Formerly a department of just the Remnant fleet, but later expanded to serve as the intelligence organization for the entire polity
