Slyth Empire

The Slyth were a precursor alien race, who achieved the Apex, and rapid downfall of their society in what would be on Earth, the 1950's. The Slyth themselves even visited earth twice before, one of their scout vehicles confirmed through an offhand comment by Gheist, their only surviving member, to be the strange vessel seen in the sky during The Battle of Los Angeles.   The Slyth were ruled by a monarchical line, who like human cultures, thought that inbreeding was the only way to keep the line pure. Despite their hyper advanced science and knowledge, Slyth culture was draped in religious significance, numeralogical prophesies aided by supercomputer, and the species arrogance that came with being the dominant force of at its height, over half the milky way galaxy. Their spread was unnoticed by the casual observer, due to their lack of stellar mega-engineering coupled with their difficulties in extracting enough energy from local suns in a solar system, thus not blocking their light in a way it could be easily seen or noticed from the outside.   A rebellion began 300 years before the events of The Scream, culminating in rebel Slyth engineering a plague that would be dropped on loyalist worlds. Originally target to be carrier by others, and only infectiously transmitted to lethality in the royal line, the genegineered virus mutated and soon spread to all Slyth.   Gheist was one of several hundred researchers across the galaxy working on a cure, their sites are many on the surface of Gudrun especially, though have also been found in concentration on Musheera. Loyalist forces found the planet, and after a brief space battle, destroyed the protection forces, purged the facilities, and pushed the wrecks into atmosphere, trapping the survivors, and preventing its spread. Infected himself in the disaster , he locked himself in a stasis pod, @ praying to be rescued one day.. Several others from their facility transferred their minds into robotic bodies, and installed themselves as leaders of the robot Helldiver race that was also occupying Gudrun, at the time.   The Slyth empire now has ruins straddling dozens of worlds, with advanced energy, mech, and unknown technologies buried, possibly lost forever. The Slyth were on the verge of becoming a psionic race themselves at the time of their loss of control over the virus, and as it stands now, Gheist and the mechanical Jexad are the only survivors.
