German Empire decides for a limited offensive in the east. Effects are bad.

German forces were fully comitted to the Sitzkrieg - they simply weren't ready for an all out offensive. Several probing attacks. Devastating Kingdom of Italia and forcing it out of the war. But facing the horrors of Western Front once again? No way. German Army wasn't ready for that, as merely a limited part of it was both rearmed with techmaturgy and still considered loyal enough to send against enemy trenches.   A limited offensive in the east was planned, to test out how strong the Reds truly are, despite being in the middle of the Civil War. The target was a liberation of Baltic region, where the Reds recently defeated the White forces under general Yudenich. The plan was to liberate the region and perhaps endanger Petrograd itself.   The offensive ended with major failure. Reds brainwashing turned out to work much better when soldiers were facing Germans, their hated enemy. Not only they held the line, but they even counterattacked fervently. Offensive was stalled after two weeks of fighting during which only meager land gains were achieved.   New strategic plan had to be drafted if the current pause in Great War was to lead to a succesful breakthrough by Central Powers.
