Soon after the collapse of the Italy, Pope Benedict XV suddenly falls unconscious.

Ever since the beginning of the war, pope Benedict XV tried to broker a peace treaty to stop what he called 'the suicide of the civilized Europe'. His attempts, however, were met with negative responses. German Protestants rejected any “Papal Peace” as insulting. The French politician Georges Clemenceau regarded the Vatican initiative as being anti-French.   Rejected, he redirected the Holy See to humanitarian efforts to lessen the impacts of the war, such as attending prisoners of war, the exchange of wounded soldiers and food deliveries to the needy populations in Europe. This changed briefly following the second battle of the Marne and the reveal of the thaumaturgy, when he attempted to broker an international treaty against using it, judging it as wrong, dangerous, and capable of making the war even worse that it already was. He was met with mockery and refusal.   Unexpectedly, soon after Italy collapsed into the mess of the civil war, he suddenly collapsed in the middle of the mass for the restoration of order and peace on the Italian Peninsula. He appeared to have suffered from a stroke... until he suddenly awakened three days later. His mind was clear, with knowledge practically supernatural, and the feeling of a mission that he had. It was believed later on to be first case of a major Awakening in the world, though several things were slightly different than 'usual'.
