An incident between the Republic of China and the Empire of Japan's puppet state spark troubles in the East.

The Republic of China was a weak state, troubled by internal division between unofficial domains of warlords that strived for control over the country. It was a part of Entente, that supplied the Western Front with some workers, but that's how far its participation in the war went. Now, it was increasingly scared of a Roman von Untern Sternberg rampage and enigmatic ambitions of the Empire of Japan.   The RoC did nothing after Japan officially seized most of Manchuria and established a puppet government there. Which happend in 1919... because it couldn't do anything. Now, however, Japan made a step too far.   The trouble finally occured as the Empire of Japan attempted to seize the Jehol province, the only part of China north from the Great Wall. Which meant that historically speaking it was a part of a newly established puppet Manchukuo Empire (under former China Emperor Pu Yi, which heightened the complication).   Officially it was done due to insubordination of some Manchukuo military commanders that attempted to swiftly overtake the region and annex it. Of course, a majority of said commanders were Japanese, but the exact depth of the involvement of the Empire of Japan in this affair was unsure.   Unexpectedly, the swift takeover erupted into open warfare, as local Chinese forces responded in force. Of course, severely outdated, they couldn't react well enough to prevent Japan from annexing the region, but they did fight well enough to change it into a diplomatic crisis that included most of the world.   The Entente wasn't ready to go to war with the Empire of Japan, but it also couldn't let it expand too much. It was already de facto occupying French Indiochina, after all. Things could go nasty easy enough. Instead, to keep a charade, the Republic of China was allowed to leave the Entente and moved over to join Treaty fo Anchorage.
