A bloody civil war shakes Finland in the wake of Russian Republic collapse.

Just as Russian Republic began facing an increasingly bloody Russian Civil War, the same happened to Finland. It remained an autonomous region of Russia for a while, being quite content from that situation. It was - at least officially - in a personal union with Russian Empire.   This meant that its situation began changing when tsar was forced to abdicate and was de facto imprisoned by the Provisional Government. It moved towards widerning its autonomy, despite the government resistance... and remained like that until the May Revolution.   When that happened, the Revolution initially spread to Finland as well, though it had more social-democrat feeling - but it's connection to Lenin left no doubts as to who exactly was going to rule Finland, at least to conservative forces that were strong in the northern Finland.   Carl Gustav Emil Mannerheim, appointed the supreme commander of the Finland's Whites, managed to extinguish the Revolution after several months of bloody struggle, mostly due to help coming from Germany - Soviet Russia couldn't muster similar help, as it was busy trying to defend its core lands from Denikin and other White's commanders.
