Romania taked advantage over the May Revolution and seizes Bessarabia.

Romania joined the war, hoping to defeat the Austro-Hungarian Empire together with its Russian allies... and lost the war horribly. Sure, small part of it remained independent, but only because of Russian Army that entered it from the east - and the fact that the area was rather mountainous and underdeveloped. Central Powers, frankly, didn't see any sense in continuing the offensive and left it like that.   Now situation changed. Russian Army temporarily collapsed entirely after the May Revolution. Independent Moldavian Republic was proclaimed on Bessarabia region (that used to belong to Romania before Russia annexed it). With local Russian forces collapsing entirely, Romanian forces secured Moldavia, and from the fear of the revolution, local political elites decided to join Romania.   This slightly improved Romania situatin, but didn't save it from surrendering soon enough. The country was simply unable to fight, as it existed only due to Russian support.
