Italy joins the war

It wasn't an easy decision for the Italy. Especially since it already disregarded the alliance treaty it had with Austro-Hungarian Empire and German Empire when the war started. It was rapidly modernizing its army, preparing for its ultimate participation in the war.   Whom it should support was the really hard question. A deciding factor were the promises of border corrections between Italy and Austria, plus some gains in western Balkans and Africa. It was something that the Central Powers couldn't match. Because of that, in the end, the Italy declared war against the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The war with German Empire came later on.   Soon the long chain of battles over the Isonzo river started.
