Myarthor
The fabled City of Myarthor is renowned for its wealth and its mysteries. The Dragonians keep its secrets well-guarded - rarely letting other species into the vicinity of the Red Mountains and even fewer into the City of Myarthor. However, even the poorest merchant treasures the quality of Myarthorian metalworks and jewelry above anything else.
Ancenstral home of the Dragonians, the City of Myarthor has risen and fallen in importance of the world stage. Before humans settled on the islands, it was the capital of the Iromar Empire and home to millions of Dragonians. Since then the Dragonians have become more isolated and over time retreated back to the Red Mountains. The Kingdom of Calteria currently held the Red Mountains and its dwellings.
The part of the Myarthor still in usage is located on the side of Mount Calteria in the Red Mountains. Mount Calteria is an ancient active vulcano that erupts every few hundred years. Due to these conditions, the city of Myarthor are frequently relocated, which means that the landscape are dotted with ruins. Furthermore the city's diminished population has also contributed to the ruinous remains scattered around Mount Calteria. The vulcano beneath Mount Calteria is also the source of the prosperity of the city. The lands around the Red Mountains are known to be mineral-rich and provides the best farmland of all the Iromar Isles. Additionally, the frequent lava emissions of Mount Calteria has also provided the Dragonians with a steady stream of precious metals brought forth from the deeper layers of the planet.
Myarthor and Mount Calteria also has a significant importance to Dragonian culture and religion. According to legend the First Dragons was born from the fires of Calteria. The God-Dragon Evael flew above the wastes and waters of the world until she found the Iromar Isles and made her lair beneath Mount Calteria. In the depths of the vulcano, she gave birth to the First Dragons. However, fearing that the other gods would haunt her children, she used magic to transform some of her eggs into the first Dragonians such that they could take her newborn when she was no longer of the earth. The First Dragons became deities on their own in Dragonian religion and the Dragonians serving them formed the various Dragonian Clans. Myarthor became a stronghold to worship for the Dragon Cult - while Caarthar, the First of Evael's children, has become the patron saint of Myarthor. The Dragons are the nobility of the Dragonian society and are frequently deified by the Dragonians after their death.
Government
At top Mount Calteria, the Dragon Queen resides in her palace where dragonian priests and cultists attend to the Queen's every need while dragonian paladins protect the Queen's Eggs and offspring. The Kingdom of Calteria has a strict feudal system of law with the Dragon Queen at the top and the Clans directly below. To a Dragonian, the Clan is more important than anything else - moreso than family or individuals - and societal status are directly linked to a individual's standing within the clan and how much glory they have brought to the clan. The Clans are each led by a council of Elders, who control all aspects of Dragonian life in that particular clan as well as maintaining law and order. Most cities of the kingdom are typically home to a few clans. The oldest and strongest clans call Myarthor home.
