Session 9: Wooden walls and slippery slopes Report

General Summary

My liege,   I want to offer my thanks for assigning me the latest heir of the De la Roost family. It has been decades since I last had a mortal in my service, and I crave the distraction they offer.   I recently had the good fortune of meeting my future servant. The strange breach of the barrier between our realm and the mortal plane put her and her friends in danger and I offered my help. They were making their way to Keralon, the Silver City as the mortals named it. While making their way through the Lorewood the mist that spilled from the breach caught them by suprise. On several occassions they were faced with bands of Dianios, which they handeled expertly. Your misguided servant, Cornu, was hunting them as well, and they fared less admirably against him and his hounds.   As I will not be robbed of my new human companion, I had no choice but to intervene. I hope my actions have not offended you and the hunter was not acting on your behalf? If he was, your servants must have neglected to inform me, so I cannot be held responsible. Whatever the case may be, I did not raise a hand against Cornu. I merely guided the mortals through the Lorewood, offering them a shortcut to safety. The intrusion of our realm into the Irminsul woods is great enough for such space bending magic to work.   Using my shortcut, Liliana and her friends made it to Logvale. Its magic defenses are still active, which means the old pacts have not yet been broken. It is here Cornu made two mistakes that cost him his life. First of all, he angered the mortals by slaying their Cernunnon protector. They seemed rather attached to the animal. Secondly, even though he was wounded, he breached the walls of Logvale and forced himself inside. The bane must have been excruciating, but he still attempted to get to an elf named Gael, one of Liliana's friends.   My liege, I cannot help but wonder what it was the hunter was after, What could be important enough for him to risk everything, to step into a warded mortal settlement? I hope you deem me worthy of your confidence and trust. Maybe I can help? My future bond to Liliana might allow me to obtain whatever it is you seek.   Anyway, after a good night's rest I guided the young band of heroes to one of our portals and offered to take them to safety in the foothills near Keralon. They were mistrustful and paranoid. I did not force the issue and after some debate they came to see reason and accepted my help.   I already offered my servant her fey blade in the hopes it would help her to learn to trust me. I think I am making good strides with her. Her companions remain weary.   I hope this brief explanation offers enough insight into my actions these past few days. If I have somehow offended you or disrupted your plans, rest assured I will do whatever I can to make amends.   Your fateful servant,
Vivienne, Lady of Whitewail.
