Session 2: The Bramble trial Report
General Summary
My Queen, I have returned.
Greetings Sylvesse, approach and tell me of our friends. Have they passed the Bramble Trial?
They have, my queen. The hobgblin Terrin gave them the information on the old kingdom of Immerglade. He explained its demise at the hand of the rival fey nation of Neverhold and told them about the ruins of the ancient watchtower at the center of the Bramble. They valiantly set out to solve its mysteries, as is the tradition of the village of Tarn.
Did they encounter any difficulties?
I would say so. As expected, the old foe had set up sentries at the tower. The fight was brutal but short and all of the cursed plants were defeated.
Did you intervene?
I was told not to, so I didn't. After the fight Gael noticed my presence and wanted to talk, but I advised him to finish his quest first. Their initial approach to the riddle was too practical, but they soon realized their mistake. It was the young witch that first understood the nature of the riddle and they found the answer soon after.
Did they show restraint?
I was pleased to see they did. They each claimed only one runestone, leaving the rest behind. I knew Gael would not take more than he was owed, he understands the rules of nature, but I was uncertain about the rest. My doubt was unfounded. Afterwards I had a short conversation with the group, introducing myself and congratulating them on their success. They were courteous enough. I do not think they would stand out at court too much.
Perhaps, but we are a long way from that. One day though, maybe. Have they ventured in to the Lorewood now?
They have. They are travelling with others of their kind to the human city of Hillfield. After that they will continue on to the Silver City. Their first day was rather uneventful, untill the sun started setting. They are still young, so their hearts are still full of ideals, hopes and dreams. It is strange to see them travel so carefree through our troubled land, oblivious to the goings on of the forest dwellers.
Let them have their innocence for now. Some of them are known to us, their fate already determined. The others will face their own darkness, whatever it may be, soon enough. You spoke of troubles?
In the evening they came upon a camp of a travelling bard. He was being robbed by a group of Reinards. Gael was scouting ahead and decided to intervene, even though the others were still a while off. The fight was not easy and Gael almost died. I had no choice but to step in.
It is permitted now. Their initial trial is over, the Immerglade has made its mark on them.
The rest arrived soon after and dealt with the delinquent foxes. I left before too many of them could see me. They are sleeping now, using their numbers to keep themselves safe.
Good. You are doing well. I appreciate you travelling al this way but I need you to return to them. Stay in their shadow until they reach the loggers' camp. Thereafter they will be on their own.
It will be as you wish my queen.
