Session 1: A day of excitement Report

General Summary

Daga 30 of the year 121 Era of the Tree   Another year has come and gone and it is once again time for the Lightwatch Festival. With the coming of spring another group of youngsters will leave Tarn in search of adventure and excitement. Most of them return soon enough. Not everyone makes it all the way to Keralon. I myself left the caravan in Hillfield and returned home after a year or two in that small city. This years batch is different though. I think they might actually have what it takes to make it in the big city.   As is tradition, I met up with them outside of the Coldperch Inn a few hours after dawn to warn them of the dangers they will be facing and to give them some encouragement. Leadership is not one of my greatest skills, even though I was elected sherrif almost unanimously a few years ago. I also explained the day's proceedings, although everyone is aware of the traditions of the Lightwatch Festival.   The youngsters are expected to go around town helping whoever needs help with chores and small tasks. It is a way if saying goodbye to everyone and thanking them for being good neighbors while growing up. They often receive some kind of reward or gift in return. I have asked around and I know some of the tasks they will given.   Innkeeper Patt will ask them to help with setting up the tables for tonight. He has some kind of magical jug he will give them in return. Father Brightspin wants a fallen tree moved to the church to turn in to a new statue of the World Tree. He usually gifts healing potions. The miller Varr will always asks to find the secret door in his cellar. So far no-one succeeded. I don't know what he could gift beyond rations. The farmers of the Markethouse will have them clear out some rotting vegetables. I know they saved up for a horse and wagon for the group to travel on with the caravan. Terrin usually just wants some herbs gathered in the woods. I have seen him crafting a staff and a ritual dagger these past weeks, so I guess that will be his gifts. And I want them to remove some illegal hunting traps. I don't have a gift yet, but I will pass by the merchants of the caravan tomorrow and give them something before they leave.   As far as I heard the tasks went well. Until they reached Toffree's chicken farm. Apparently some Reynards set rabid foxes loose on the farm, knocked out Jebb and stole Corkscrew, Jebb's pseudodragon companion.   The group intervened by killing the rabid foxes and healing Jebb. They then bravely, although maybe foolishly, set out after the Reynards. They found their camp, defeated them and returned Corkscrew to his home. When they emerged from the woods only Gael seemed seriously wounded. Thankfully, Father Brightspin was able to heal his wounds.   The group was then received as true heroes by the townsfolk and the feast could truly begin.   As I am writing this I can see Alistan dancing with Elsa Colline and Lady Colline herself seems to have taken pitty on Luke and has invited him on to the dancefloor. Liliana and Ileas are dancing as well while Dadroz, Gael and Hayle are watching and socializing with the townsfolk. I am sure they will all be greatly missed.   It won't be long before Terrin arrives to call them all together and send them on a little test. I am curious how they will fare. Not everyone succeeds and some come back wounded. I have faith in our young friends though.   Sherrif Edna Fare
