Northern Wetlands

Unlike the Northern Wastes of the Arcane Jewels, most the Wetlands are green and fertile. Vast plains of tall green grass with occasional forests of small trees and shrubs make up this area of Irminsul. Many springs, ponds and small rivers dot the plains, making the area live up to its name.   Although there are but a few large villages or towns, the plains are not completely deserted. Close to the Lorewood, a vast and dense forest, the city of Keralon and its allied settlements can be found. In the aftermath of Ourborros' escape and the cataclysm that followed, thousands of refugees made their way to the city, adding to its already considerable population. Some adventurous humans and halflings have also taken to the plains, building large and well defendable farms and ranches, some going as far as building strong walls or towers.   Large part of the Northern Wetlands remain unclaimed territory. Neither Flagos nor Keralon have the military strength to enforce their rule across the 300 mile long plains. As such, bandit lords and blackhearted knights have been known to build hideouts and fortresses on the grasslands, threatening travelers on the Emperor’s Road. Gnolls, goblinoids and even some orcs have found their way to the plains as well.   The north-western part of the area is known as the Gry Bogs, an unholy marshland cursed by the presence of undead and monsters.   South of these bogs lays the Gry Heart, a dark pine forest home to the unofficial kingdom of the elusive Darkfey.
