Stormlord

powerful Magi who use their powers to help protect Highgate from the Sea of Storms.

Requirements

Stormlords tend to be powerful Wizards or sorccerers, though there have been instances of druids, clerics, and even bards with the power to help aid in the defense of Highgate during the Storm seasons.

Appointment

Stormlords are generally paid appointments by the Merchants guilds, rarely are there more than five Stormlords within the City at a time.

Duties

During the Winter when the Sea of Storms swells and threatens the city, it is the duty of a Stormlord to assist in protecting the city, or more specifically their benefactors property.

Responsibilities

The day to day tasks of Stormlords outside of the winter storms is mundane at best, rarely is a stormlord bothered to be pulled from their personal activities.

Benefits

Stormlords command a great deal of respect and authority within Highgate. they are paid a handsom retainer fee to remain within the city and givin private lofts or even towers or estates should they be powerful enough to warrent the expense. many Stormlords use their posistion to further their study or to live lavishly, or promote their private agenda.

Stormlords, while not an official rank in the order of Highgates social structure, are none the less regarded highly as they protect the city from the Sea of Storms during the winter when the endless hurricane swells. even the Guildmasters of Highgate respect the wishes of the Stormlord.
