The Legend that a mighty mythical beast, perhaps from beyond the planes, is responsible for the endless hurricane that gives the sea or storms its namesake.
Summary
This naval legend started as many do, from wary fishermen and sailors that swear they saw something at the edge of the horizon, something unnatural. legend has it that a might beast, perhaps a Kraken or Eldritch beast from beyond the stars, swallows entire ships whole if they dare to brave the Sea of Storms, and that this beast is responsible for the Endless storm. over the centuries countless retellings of the tale has warped it into numerous variations.
Historical Basis
Due to the mysterious nature of the Stormsea, and why the Channel of water between the eastern and western kingdoms is so heavily afflicted, has led to the theory of a Stormbeast that slumbers between Krogar and the Western kingdoms.
Spread
nearly everyone on Irindor is aware of the stormsea, and the Sea of Storms, and have heard the many myths that swirl around the mystical nature of these places.
Variations & Mutation
As the myth spreads countless variations have arisin to change the stor.y in one instance, its a Stormbeast, in others its a portal to the Plane of Water, and yet another claims there to be an island at the center with untold riches protected by the gods by this endless hurricane.
Cultural Reception
Nearly every culture has one variation of the myth to explain why the waters around Irindor are constantly wracked by storms.
