Skyship

Wurdgrym Dwarves have managed to combine elemental Rune Engines and refined Liquid Mystrium to create skyships and fortresses.

Utility

as the only means of air travel short of mounting a flying beast, airships provide a number of benifits, namely the ability to launch rapid unforseen assaults on the enemies of Wurdgrym. the ship itself can fly for months without having to land, and carry a vast array of siege weapons, warriors, and cargo.

Manufacturing

Skyships are expensive, there is no such thing as a cheap Skyship. the hull is composed of adamantium and ironwood. with components for internal mechanisms being composed of mitrhal and Alchemical silver, and Mystrium runes.

liquid Mystrium itself is rare, but powerful. a pound of Liquid Mystrium can power a Rune engine for months.

Complexity

Rune engines are delicate and dangerous machines, a fire elemental and a water elemental are bound into the machine to keep a stable temperature. liquid Mystrium is placed in a lead core that floats in a vat of pressurized steam. the energies of the Mystrium is slowly extracted the the magical runes of the engine, turning the mechanisms of the Skyship, as well as powering the bindings of the air elementals that keep the ship afloat.

Discovery

Wurdgryms technologicaly advanced culture allows them to experiment more readily with Mystrium than the other races, and their apathy towards lesser races meant that slaves both mortal and elemental expedited their research.
