Holidays
Just before the Day of Ascension of Asmodeus the Temple of Nine celebrate Mephistopheles role in the Hells and his inadvertend choice to fre the God of Tyranny from the Pits. This greatly angers the Merciful One, and those who worship him directly within the Temple of Nine know better than to celebrate the holiday with the rest of their brothers and sisters.

Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Mephistopheles appears very similar to Asmodeus, a large red skinned man with large horns and shadowy wings he stands a fire skinned giant of powerful muscles able to dash even the most powerful opponents to dust in the blink of an eye.
Body Features
Mephistopheles his a large red skinned Fiend, with shadows bleeding from his back that form wings. a number of delicate lines are etched into his skin, wards he carved himself to form protective wards against assassins and those who would probe his thoughts.
Facial Features
Mephistopheles has two large horns sprouting from his brow that curl upwards like a bull, as well as endless voids of blackness as eyes.
Identifying Characteristics
Mephistopheles cloaks himself in shadows that appear like dark flames, despite this the air around the Archfiend is painfully cold as he saps heat from the surrounding area.
Physical quirks
The Shadows Mephistopheles serve as a defensive cloak that twitch and dance to his emotions, when angered they flare up like flames, and when contemplating they coil and curl like snakes.
Special abilities
Mephistopheles controls the Shadowfire, a combination of Hellfire and the Living Shadow that he stole from the Goddess of Death Yheia during her Imprisionment in the Plane of Shadows. The Shadowfire spreads like a flame though it saps heat like a deadly winter chill.

Mephistopheles wears a mail skirt of Black Iron, adorned with Flayed skin of his most hated enemies. A large Scepter adorned with rubies red as blood signifies his rulership as Duke of Chara.

Mephistopheles wields a portion of the Living Shadow from the Fell, stolen from the Dark Lady of Loss during her imprisionment there.

Personal history
Mephistopheles rose to power in the Pits after usurping his lord the former Lord of Chara Beelzebub, until that Point he had been a loyal Fallen Branded by Belial of the 6th Layer Serus. Mephistopheles broke his shackles and ascended from a Fallen to an Archfiend of the Pit, Asmodeus approved of Mephistopheles methods in tricking Beelzebub into trusting the Fallen as he invaded the 7th layer only to find his allies turning on him. This marked one of the few times such a high ranking Lord of Hell was outwitted by a lesser demon, especially one who carried the Brand of the Fallen.Mephistopheles awaited Asmodeus to promote him to the Rank of Archfiend, and the powers that once belonged to Beelzebub. Asmodeus granted him the titles and powers as Archfiend, but found the Fallen Angel too demanding and so transformed the new Archfiend into a visage similar to his own, to the outrage of Mephistopheles. Many outsiders, including Mortals upon whom Mephistopheles would attempt to claim their souls, assumed Mephistopheles to be Asmodeus in disguise. Mephistopheles has since spent much of his time since then aspiring for Asmodeus Throne and plotting against the Lord of Baathos. He came close to his ultimate goal of rulership of Baathos during the final moments of Long Night, or so he thought, before the moment of victory was snatched away during Asmodeus ascension. Mephistopheles now endures what he feels to be a personal insult as Asmodeus allows a council of Fallen to rule in his stead, granting them stewardship of Baathos. Mephistopheles now heeds the council of a Watcher demon he captured, using the beasts paranoia and ability to manipulate minds for his own benefit.
Employment
Mephistopheles began as an Angel, tortured for eons upon the Racks of Hell before being Broken by Belial and transformed into a Fallen.

Accomplishments & Achievements
Mephistopheles managed to manipulate Belial and Beelzebub during their attempt to invade the 7th layer of hell and claim it as their own. Mephistopheles was the only Fiend to come out on top during this struggle, as he betrayed Beelzebub leaving him defenseless as Mammon destroyed the would be usurper Mephistopheles stole away the Lords remaining divine essence and powerful artifacts before the lord of Greed could claim them as his own.
Failures & Embarrassments
Mephistopheles underestimated Asmodeus durign the Long Night and inadvertently freed his rival from the deepest pit of Baathos and lost much of his own Divine Essence in the process.
Mental Trauma
Mephistopheles now heeds only the Watcher he has imprisioned, listening to its every word and constructing his plots around the Demons ability to peer through time.
